Date of incident: December 2025
Role: Customer service operator
Injuries: Severe bruising to both legs; possible compartment syndrome concern; trauma / difficulty travelling in vehicles.
What happened: Yogita was driving with passengers when another vehicle came through a give-way and hit the front right of her car. Airbags deployed. Ambulance and fire attended. She has not been able to return to work.

Date of incident: June 2024
Role: Metal roofer
Injuries: Torn subscapularis and bicep tendonitis; shortened bicep; two shoulder/bicep surgeries with further surgery planned for bone that is not fusing.
What happened: On a school building site, Will was carrying a long corrugated roof sheet with colleagues when his foot hit insulation on a beam and he slipped. The sheet stayed up as he fell/got up, making the movement awkward; he felt the shoulder tear. Prior football shoulder injury from years earlier had not been an issue for about a decade.

Injuries: Left ankle sprain; ongoing daily pain after shifts.
What happened: In a rolled-plastic factory, Renee was moving plastic between machines when a piece of plastic fell under her left foot and she sprained her ankle. She has returned to pre-injury duties but still has pain after shifts.

Claim Example #4 — Viktoria

Injuries: Whiplash to neck and shoulders; right hip; mild concussion; severe driving anxiety.
What happened: Viktoria was leaving her housing estate on the way to work when another vehicle rear-ended her car. Witnesses said the other vehicle had been weaving through traffic; it was later reported as stolen. Her car was written off. She has been off work on workers compensation for months while recovering.

Claim Example #5 — Susan

Injuries: Calf injuries; headaches; severe back pain (can only stand briefly); staples in her head; extensive skin grafts.
What happened: Susan was stationary and indicating to turn into her street when a stolen vehicle hit her from behind (hit and run). She had to be cut from the car and was admitted to hospital for about a week.

Claim Example #6 — Pedro

Injuries: Left back pain; whiplash; neck pain; headaches.
What happened: Pedro was driving home from work on the M1 when traffic stopped. After he had been stationary for several seconds, another car hit him from behind at high speed, causing a multi-car pile-up. Police, ambulance and tow trucks attended. His car was written off. He has tried to keep working without taking time off.

Injuries: Serious ankle injury — multiple ligaments repaired, tendon/cartilage damage, nerve damage; surgery after a long wait.
What happened: While running with students on a school oval, Arjen hit a rock hidden in long grass, twisting and breaking the ankle. Surgery was delayed about three months. Months off on workers compensation followed; full HPE duties could not be resumed, unpaid leave was denied, and resignation followed.
