Our Genuine No Win No Fee criteria

A law firm can only be on our Proper No Win No Fee panel if its costs agreement meets all seven of these criteria. We keep each panel firm's costs agreement on file to show it does.

  1. No uplift. The firm does not charge an uplift fee (the extra of up to 25% added to professional fees at the end of a claim).
  2. No "care and consideration" charges. The firm does not add "care and consideration" or similar loadings to its bill.
  3. A clear, realistic legal fee estimate. The firm gives you a written estimate of its legal fees at the start, and updates it if it changes.
  4. Experienced lawyers. Your claim is run by a lawyer with at least 10 years of experience.
  5. Billing in 6-minute units. The firm charges in 6-minute units, not 15 or 20-minute units.
  6. No legal fees if you lose. If the claim is unsuccessful, you pay the firm no legal fees.
  7. Fair termination terms. The firm does not charge unreasonable fees or penalties if you change firms or end the agreement.
